We are a family – we put our heart and soul into our establishment.
It all began when the parents, Annegret and Ruedi Felder, bought the Engel in 1984 and refurbished and extended it. Jeannine Wey-Felder and her two sisters grew up in the Engel. Jeannine met her future husband, Raphael Wey, a native of Hitzkirch, in the Ticino. He joined her parents’ establishment as an assistant in 2000 and stayed because of Jeannine.
As a qualified chef, Raphael lives for his metier. He earned his spurs in prestigious establishments under famous names. Jeannine, meanwhile, gained a commercial apprenticeship in gastronomy and spent a number of years in Reception; she supervises the ten rooms and takes care of the administrative side of the business. Her daughter is a little ray of sunshine at the Engel.
In 2008 the parents, Annegret and Ruedi, handed the business over to the next generation. They continue to be involved in one way or another: Annegret, for instance, takes care of the decor in and around the Engel. As for Ruedi, he makes himself available in the mornings and is always ready with advice and a helping hand.
Jeannine and Raphael thank the parents for the confidence they place in them and for the help they provide – they are also grateful to all those who have helped them along the way.
